Kathmandu, Nepal, May 31: Nepali Congress' candidate Driga Narayan Pandey has been elected as the National Assembly member. He won the by-poll held in Lumbini Province on Monday.

Pandey has been elected with 4140 votes while another contender CPN UML candidate Chandra Bahadur  Khadka garnered just 3612 votes. 

Pandey was a common candidate of the opposition-alliance- Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Center, Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of the ruling CPN UML, the Upendra Yadav-led faction of the Janata Samajbadi party (JSP) and the Rashtriya Janamorcha.
