Kathmandu, Nepal:  New Baneshwar of Kathmandu turned into battle field after teachers and Nepal police clash briefly on Monday. Police used excessive force against of the protesting teachers in the name of dispersing the protesters.  
 
Scuffle was ensued after   teachers under the government relief quota attempted to breach the prohibited line during their protest program. It is said that four teachers have been arrested while three others have sustained injuries. 
 
The teachers working under the government relief quota have been protesting against a provision in the proposed Federal Education Bill as the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has prepared a draft Federal Education Bill with the provision that only 20 percent of the relief quota and ECD teachers be made permanent through internal competition.
 
It is said that about 40,000 teachers are working under relief quota at various public schools.  Likewise, around 26,000 female teachers have also been working at Early Childhood Development Centers (ECDCs) across the country.
