Kathmandu, Nepal, Aug. 2, 2022: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that he had to step down from the post of Prime Minister after he took a decision to incorporating the territory of Limpiyadhura, Kalapani and Lipulek in the Nepali map.

Speaking at a program organized to launch a book written by former secretary Dwarikanath Dhungel in Kathmandu on Monday, Oli said ‘I had to step down as Prime Minister due to the reason of incorporating the territory of Limpiyadhura, Kalapani and Lipulek in the Nepali map. 

‘There is no dispute that Limpiyadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani are Nepali territories as the Sugauli Treaty clearly states that the Mahakali River is the border between Nepal and India,’ Oli said ‘but the area was removed latter from the map of Nepal.’

This was not an issue of dispute as Limpiyadhura, Kalapani and Lipulek is the Nepali territory, but the issue became here in Nepal, Oli said hinting to the ruling allies of the incumbent government for toppling his government. 

During the function, Oli also stated that his first tenure as the prime minister also fell down after he signed the transit treaty with China. Being removed as Prime Minister is not a matter of worry but the matter to worry is what direction the country is going in,’ Oli said hinting that southern neighbor India that it used to play its role to form and dissolve the government as per its interests.
