Kathmandu, Nepal, December 1, 2020: After about nine months long closer, the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has decided to open the Pashupatinath temple from December 16. The famous temple of the Hindus across the world has remained closed since the last week of March this year.
According to the PADT, the temple will open for pilgrims by adhering to the health protocols including the proper social distancing measures not to spread the virus. The PADT has made the decision to open the temple responding to the widespread demands of the different social and religious organizations.
As the temple remained closed for nearly nine months since the government enforced a nationwide lockdown on March 24, various organizations including the World Hindu Federation (WHF) had been staging protests against the decision.
