Kathmandu, Nepal, March 21, 2022: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has highlighted the role of local governments underlining the need of working to win the confidence of the people and to implement the current federal democratic system of the country.

Deuba, who is also the president of the ruling head Nepali Congress, said so while laying the foundation stone for the administrative building of the Sundarharaicha Municipality at Salakpur-8 in Morang district on Monday. 

Prime Minister Deuba has highlighted the role and responsibilities of the elected representatives of the local bodies at the time when the country is heading towards the local level election, which is scheduled for 13th May, 2022.  

Since the local levels are the basis of federalism, the people's representatives should work as per the aspirations of the current system and the wish of the people, Deuba said. 

During the address, he also reiterated that the incumbent government is committed to hold the upcoming local level election in a free, fair, and fearless manner. He also urged one and all for the cooperation and coordination to make success the upcoming local level election.
