Kathmandu, Nepal, March 15, 2022:Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged one and all not to speak against of the recently ratified Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact project.
Inaugurating the newly-constructed administrative building of Kispang Rural Municipality in Nuwakot on Monday, Prime Minister Deuba said ‘the MCC was ratified from the parliament as it has been in the best interest of Nepal.’
‘There is no any sense to protest of the MCC,’ Prime Minister Deuba said even naming the UML leader Bhim Bahadur Rawal, who has been opposing the MCC from very beginning. ‘The MCC was endorsed from the parliament as the UML chairman KP Sharma Oli-led government had registered in the parliament seeking ratification,’ Deuba said.
‘Why didn’t you protest the agreement when you were in the role of Defense Minister in the KP Oli led cabinet?’ Prime Minister Deuba asked adding ‘you should have suggested the government if you had felt need of amendment.’
‘Since the MCC grant is received for Nepal’s development and this is for the national interest,’ Deuba said adding it is free and Nepal won’t have to pay even the interest amount. There is no necessary to resort double standards on MCC irrespective of their position in the government and opposition, he said.
