Kathmandu, Nepal, June 20, 2021: Police have arrested a house owner based on Babarmahal of Kathmandu on the charge of denying rent out room to a lower cast person.
Metropolitan Police Circle Singha Durbar arrested Saraswati Pradhan on Sunday morning on the charge of denying rent out a room in her house to Rupa Sunar after latter revealed her caste.
Sunar, who is a journalist by profession, had lodged a complaint against Pradhan at the Police Circle on Thursday claiming that she faced cast based discrimination while searching out a room for residential purpose.
