Kathmandu, Nepal: Nepal Police have arrested absconding human trafficking convicted singer Prakash Ojha from Sankhamool area of Kathmandu on Friday.
The Supreme Court (SC) had convicted Ojha, 43, a permanent resident of Itahari-4 in Sunsari district, of two human trafficking cases and handed down a five-year sentence for each on January 17.
Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police nabbed Ojha while he was recording music in Shankhamool, near to New Baneshowr of Kathmandu. Ojha was absconding since the SC had issued the verdict to jail him for 10 years.
Ojha, who was a famous of Nepali comedian and singer of the song ‘Baule Bihe Gardenan Pohorpani and Bhatkaidinchuu Bakrako Khorpani, was convicted by the SC for forcefully having unnatural sexual contacts with three minor girls for two years since 2002.
In the SC verdict Ojha had captured photographs and videos of sexual acts with the minors, posted them on websites to make money and showed the pictures and videos to the victims to have unnatural sexual contacts.
The SC had made the verdicts in response to the appeals registered against the decisions of the then Biratnagar Appellate Court. The Court had acquitted him of the crime. Ojha has been sent in Sundhara-based Central Jail..
