Kathmandu, Nepal, November 9, 2021: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has on Monday removed the governors of Province 1, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim province. The President Bhandari has made the decision under the recommendation of the government as per Article 165 (b) of the Constitution.
A Cabinet meeting held earlier on Monday decided to commend the president after making decision to appoint new governors in the three provinces. However, no new governors have been recommended yet.
Somnath Adhikari, Ganga Prasad Yadav and Govinda Prasad Kalaoni had been serving as the governors of Province 1, Sudurpaschim and Karnali Province respectively. All the governors used to be considered as loyal to CPN UML.
