Guwahati, November 18 : President Ram Nath Kovind will make his 4-day long maiden visit to the north eastern region from November 19.
President Kovind will visit Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur and will attend several programmes and meetings.
It is his first visit to the north eastern region after elected as the President.
On November 19, he will attend a function at Indira Gandhi Park in Arunachal Pradesh’s capital city Itanagar to mark 40 years of Vivekananda Kendra organised by the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Alumni Association.
On the same day, President Kovind will address the legislators of Arunachal Pradesh at a special assembly session and to inaugurate the new Arunachal Pradesh assembly building.
On November 20, Kovind will attend the closing ceremonial function of Namami Barak Festival at Silchar in Assam.
President Kovind will also attend a civic reception organised by the Gauhati University in Guwahati on November 20 evening.
On November 21, Kovind will fly to Manipur from Guwahati and to inaugurate the North East Development Summit and the 10-day long Sangai Tourism Festival in Imphal.
Kovind will also visit the INR war memorial at Moirang on November 22.
Meanwhile, several outfit groups coordination committee CorCom has asked the people of Manipur to boycott the visit of President Kovind and called 27-hour shutdown across the state from 5 am of November 21 till 8 am of November 22.
Tight security has been arranged in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur ahead of President Kovind visit.
