Kathmandu, Nepal, April 2, 2022: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi jointly inaugurated railway link between Janakpur in Nepal to Jaynagar in India. The 35-km (22-mile) railway, the first railway service in Nepal, was jointly flagged by both the Prime Ministers.   

The two prime ministers also remotely inaugurated an electricity transmission line that will supply hydroelectric power generated in the Solukhumbu area and jointly launched India's RuPay payment card in Nepal as well.  

Different four pacts were also inked by the two sides to expand cooperation in railways and energy after the wide-ranging talks in the pretense of both the Prime Ministers.   

During the address Indian Prime Minister Modi reiterated to speed up the Pancheswar hydroelectric project and other Indian funded projects in Nepal. 

During the bilateral talks held at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Saturday, both the prime ministers also vowed to further expand bilateral ties in several areas and inaugurated a number of projects.  

Prime Minister Deuba is on a three-day visit to India started from Friday.
