Kathmandu, Nepal, August 25, 2020: Considering to the rising number of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases across the country in Nepal, ongoing restrictions or prohibited order imposed in some distorts including in Kathmandu valley would be extended for another one week.
Responding to suggestion made by the Municipal Mayor Forum (MMF), the forum of mayors in Kathmandu valley, the District Administration Offices (DAOs) in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur likely to extend ongoing restrictions inside the Kathmandu Valley until August 31.
A meeting of the Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts likely to take decision to this effect by Tuesday as the ongoing a week long restrictions imposed in Kathmandu valley is going to end on Wednesday.
A meeting of the Forum held in Kathmandu on Monday decided to suggest to the DAOs to extend prohibitory orders keeping in mind rising coronavirus cases in the Kathmandu Valley.
As the Kathmandu Valley alone witnessed 224 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the meeting of the mayors in Kathmandu valley took the decision to this effect.
The meeting of the forum also decided to suspend all but not essential services of all the local governments until August 31.
As the government authorized the district administrators to take necessary decisions regarding the restrictions by assessing the coronavirus situations in the local level, different 48 districts have witnessed partial or complete restricts since one week.
Of the 48 districts, 35 have imposed complete restrictions throughout the district while 13 districts have imposed partial restrictions in the specific areas of the districts, where the coronavirous cases are high.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) complete lockdown is imposed in the districts namely- Arghakhanchi, Baitadi, Banke, Bara, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Dadeldhura, Dailekh, Dhankuta, Dhanusha, Dolakha, Gorkha, Gulmi, Kailali, Kalikot, Kanchanpur, Kaski, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Mahottari, Nawalparasi (West), Palpa, Parsa, Pyuthan, Ramechhap, Rautahat, Rupandehi, Sankhuwasabha, Saptari, Sarlahi, Sindhupalchowk, Siraha, Sunsari, Syangja and Tehrathum.
Likewise, the districts that have enforced prohibitory order in particular areas include Baglung, Darchula, Dhading, Jajarkot, Jhapa, Jumla, Makwanpur, Morang, Nuwakot, Rukum West, Surkhet, Tanahu and Udayapur. Similarly, Kapilvastu and Nuwakot districts have suspended their services owing to the spread of coronavirus.
