Kathmandu, Nepal, December 22, 2020: A Central Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) close to Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has on Tuesday decided to expel Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from the post of party chairman.

The meeting also decided to appoint former Prime Minister and party’s senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal as the new chairman of the party. The decision was taken by endorsing the decision of the party’s standing committee meeting held on Monday.     

Of the 446 central committee members, 310 central committee members were present in the meeting, spokesperson Narayen Kaji Shrestha said.  

Likewise, the Oli-led faction also held its central committee meeting at the official residence of the prime minister in Baluwatar on Tuesday. 

The meeting had decided to appoint some central committee members and named Pradeep Kumar Gyawali as the party’s spokesperson.
