Kathmandu, Nepal, January 28, 2023: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Dol Prasad Aryal has been picked as the Acting President and Parliamentary Party (PP) leader of the Party.
A central committee meeting and the PP meeting of the party held on Friday night decided to pick party’s vice President Aryal as the acting President as well as PP leaders respectively until further arrangements.
The RSP has made the decision after the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court (SC), the apex court of the country, invalidated the party Chairperson Lamichhane’s post as the member of the House of Representatives (HoR) for failing to regain citizenship after giving up his USA’s citizenship and passport.
Following the verdict of the Constitutional Bench, Lamichhane had resigned from the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
Likewise, the meeting also decided to request all its members and well-wishers to exercise restraint and respect the rule of the law ‘at this challenging time for the party.
