Kathmandu, Nepal, July 17, 2020: The Standing Committee meeting of the ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) that was scheduled for Friday has been put off for the indefinite period after both the chairman of the party-Pushpa Kamal Dahal and KP Oli failed to settle the internal differences. 

The meeting scheduled for 11:00 am was put off till the 3:00 pm on Friday. At the last moment, the meeting was also put off for the indefinite period. It is said that the secretariat meeting called for 3:00 pm on Saturday will fix the fate of the standing committee meeting. 

Both the chairman of the party have agreed to hold the secretariat meeting to short out the differences though the standing committee meeting was called after the secretariat committee failed to settle the differences.  

The party has reached in the verge to vertical split after dissident leaders including executive chairman Dahal, former Prime Minister Duo Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal demanded resignation of Oli from both the posts- party chairman and Prime Minister.
