Kathmandu, Nepal, July 3, 2021: The ruling CPN UML has directed the dissident faction led by party’s senior leader duo Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal to withdraw the signature put in the writ petition filed at the Supreme Court demanding appointment the Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba as next Prime Minister.
Central Committee meeting of the party has also set the deadline of coming Monday two withdraw the signature. 23 lawmakers including Nepal and Khanal had signed in the writ petition filed at the SC demanding appointment of Deuba as next Prime Minister.
Altogether, 147 lawmakers from the Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Center, Upendra Yadav led faction of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), Janamorcha Nepal and the Nepal led faction of the ruling UML had moved to the Supreme Court after President denied to appointment Deuba as the new Prime Minister as per the article 76(5) of the constitution.
Though the UML called a central committee meeting on Friday, the leaders aligned in the dissident faction boycotted the meeting stating that there is no meaning to attend in the meeting.
