Kathmandu, Nepal: The Supreme Court (SC) the apex court of the country has on Tuesday asked the Election Commission (EC) to furnish a copy of its decision to conduct re-voting in the ward number 19 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City. The Election Commission (EC) had decided for re-voting in the ward-19 of Bharatpur metropolitan city.
A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli and Justice Hari Krishna Karki made order the EC to furnish a copy of its decision before the hearing on the writ petition filed at the SC demanding order to resume vote counting.
Gunjaman Bishwakarma, CPN-UML candidate for a ward member in Bharatpur-19 had filed the writ petition demanding order to resume vote counting.
Responding to the writ a single bench of Justice Cholendra SJB Rana had asked both sides to attend the hearing to decide whether to continue the interim order.
Vote counting process was stopped after CPN Maoist Center cadres had allegedly torn around 90 ballot papers during the vote count of the ward.
