Guwahati, Oct 17 : Several people have been reportedly missing after a country made boat capsized in Jia Bharali river in Assam's Sonitpur district on Thursday.
According to the reports, the boat was heading from Bihia Gaon near Lal Tapu to Panch Mile area in Tezpur got upside down on the way.
Around 70 to 80 people along with several motor bikes were onboard when the vessel capsized.
The locals were travelling to Tezpur Panch Mile for weekly market which is set up on every Thursdays.
Few people have swam to safety places.
Meanwhile, SDRF and district administration personnels have reached the spot to rescue the missing people.
