Kathmandu, Nepal, December 15, 2021: Sher Bahadur Deuba has been reelected as President of the Nepali Congress. Deuba elected in the post by defeating Shekhar Koirala with a margin of 878 votes in the second round of elections held on Tuesday under the 14th general convention.
Deuba received 2733 votes while Koirala received 1855 votes after presidential candidates of the first round of election Prakash Man Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi and Kalyan Gurung supported him in the second round of elections.
According to the election committee of the Nepali Congress, total of 4623 votes were casted in the second round of elections. A total of 35 votes were declared invalid.
Vote counting of other posts will begin from today. It is likely that election results for the office bearer posts would come by Wednesday evening.
