Guwahati, December 21 : Frontier Headquarters SSB Tezpur celebrated 54th Raising Day ceremony on December 20 at Recruit Training Centre SSB Salonibari in Assam's Sonitpur district.
On the occasion a colourful Parade consisting of troops from various units of the Frontier under Command of Desh Raj, Deputy Commandant presented a colourful March past at the historical Shivaji Parade Ground of Recruit Training Centre, SSB Salonibari.
P.S. S. Negi, Inspector General,SSB Tezpur Frontier took the salute and inspected the Parade on a decorated inspection vehicle accompanied by Deputy Inspector General, SSB Recruit Training Centre SSB Salonibari.
At the outset Tsering Dorjai, DIG, SSB, Recruit Training Centre SSB salonibari welcomed the Chief Guest and highlighted evolution of SSB.
P.S. S. Negi, Inspector General,SSB Tezpur Frontier presented the DGs Disc. to the Officers and Personnel of SSB Tezpur Frontier, RTC SSB Salonibari and the field units. 42 Personnel of Tezpur Frontier were awarded DG’s Disc.
Trophies for best Operational, Administration and best Area of the Frontier were awarded by the Inspector General to 61st Battalion SSB Bhairabkunda, 23rd Battalion SSB Lalpool and Udalguri Area respectively. P.S. S. Negi, Inspector General,SSB Tezpur Frontier recalled the origin of SSB from Tezpur by none other than our late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Shri B.N. Mullik.
The aim of SSB was to provide security to people of remote areas on Indo-China border and promote the sense of service security and brotherhood.
SSB was transformed into a border guarding force in the year 2001 and since then the force is performing the duties of sentinel on Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan Border.
SSB Tezpur Frontier is protecting the international border with 2 Sectors at Bezpara and Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh and 6 battalions deployed on Indo-Bhutan International border.
SSB is also deployed in Disturbed Area Belt on Assam-Nagaland border to maintain peace in the region.
In his closing remarks, the IG extended his thanks to all the participants and the invited guests with the hope that the Personnel of Tezpur Frontier will be re-dedicated to serve the nation with enhanced fervor and zeal.
