Kathmandu, Nepal October 29, 2019:The 5th Global Gathering on Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) is going to be held in Kathmandu on coming November 4-7. Nepal is hosting the SUN for the first time in history of South Asia.

It is said that about 1,200 representatives from 80 countries will gather in Kathmandu to discuss about the progress it has achieved so far in the nutrition sector and related future program as well.

The SUN gathering is going to be held in the mean time when the UNICEF has recently published a report titled ‘The State of the World’s Children 2019: Children, Food and Nutrition.’

In the report it is stated that 36 per cent of Nepali children below five years were stunted, 27 per cent under-weight, 1.2 per cent were overweight and 10 per cent of them were suffering from wasting.

The National Planning Commission (NPC) had first time implemented the five-year multi-sectored nutrition plan in 2013. The government has also preparing to implement the second plan covering 610 local levels of 62 districts identified as the districts with a poor nutrition status.
