Kathmandu, Nepal, December 25, 2020: Supreme Court (SC), the apex court of the country, has on Friday asked the government to furnish a written clarification about its decision to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR).

The constitutional bench of the SC issued such a show-cause notice soughing written clarification from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister and Office of the President after preliminary hearing on various 12 writ petitions filed against the government’s decision to dissolve the HoR.

The SC has also asked the government to furnish an original copy of the recommendations made by the government to dissolve the parliament and the decision made by President Bidya Devi Bhandari to authenticate the government’s recommendations.

Earlier on Friday, the SC had formed a five-member constitutional bench comprising five justices under the leadership of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamser Rana.

It is likely that the hearing over the writ petition filed against the government to recommend dissolving the parliament would take time to decide the fate of the parliament.
