Kathmandu, Nepal, April 15, 2020: The Supreme Court (SC), the Apex Court of the country has on Wednesday sought explanation of the government and its authorities concerned over releasing detainees under the special arrangement to fight against the spreading fear of corona virus (COVID-19) in Nepal.
Responding to a writ petition filed by seven detainees demanding their release under government special arrangement to fight against corona virus (COVID-19), a single bench of Justice Dambar Bahadur Shahi issued show cause notice against the government and its authorities concerned over the issue.
The petitioners had moved the court demanding release of the detainees as per Prison Rules, 1964 and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 even referring to the health care measures including the social distancing as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) to the detainees owing to the spreading fear of global pandemic corona virus (COVID-19).
