Kathmandu, Nepal: The oath taking of President Bidya Devi Bhandari has dragged into controversies after Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday ordered the government and concerned agencies to furnish it with the documents related to this.
Responding to the writ petition filed challenging the legality of the oath of President Bhandari by advocates duo Hemmani Subedi and Narayan Kharel on March 28, a single bench of Justice Kedar Prasad Chalise issued the directive order to submit the documents.
With the order, the government has to send all the documents not only related to the oath of President Bhandari and the then Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli but also the decision to relieve him from the post on the ground of his birth day certificate.
President Bhandari had taken the oath of office and secrecy from then Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli on March 14.
As the Judicial Council had sent a letter to Parajuli the same day informing that he was relieved of the post before the commencement of the oath taking ceremony, it is being suspected that the oath taking of president Bhandari would be proved illegal.
