Kathmandu, Nepal, August 21, 2020: Teej also called as Haritalika, one of the major festivals of Hindus women is being observed across the world including in Nepal on Friday amid the global pandemic of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Hindus women used to celebrate the Teej, which falls on the third dark day of the lunar month as per the Nepali month of Bhadra, festival by offering prayers to Lord Shiva wishing for the prosperous life of their husband.
The Teej festival of this year, however, is being observed quite differently due to the spread of global pandemic, coronavirus (COVID-19) as most of the shrine of Lord Shiva Including the Pashupatinath in Kathmandu are already declared as prohibited areas.
The government and the concerned stake holders have already urged one and all to observe the Teej festival by confining at home.
Meanwhile, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has urged women to observe Teej festival by adopting safety measures and standers set by the Nepal government.
Issuing a message on the occasion of the Teej festival, President Bhandari also extended her best wishes for peace, happiness and prosperity to all the Nepali women at home and abroad.
