Kathmandu, Nepal, December 27, 2022: In a general sense, police have to arrest the criminals. But, some cases, police also arrest the police too. Such a case happened in Rupandehi district on Monday.  


The Police have arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Thug Bahadur KC of the Area Police Office, Butwal, on the charge of extorting money from a trader. 

A team of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested DSP KC from his residence last night on Monday. It is said that the CIB team has also recovered 35 tolas of gold and 1.8 million in cash and cheques from his residence.

The CIB had mobilized a team from Kathmandu to arrest DSP KC after he found to have involved in a case related to gold transactions. DSP KC is charged of demanding Rs 2.5 million for returning the gold brought by a trader in Butwal last November. 

It is said that the gold was seized from a bullion trader in Butwal on December 11. The gold was brought to KC’s residence without carrying out an investigation.

Likewise, the cheques issued in the name of Khilendra Singh GC have also been recovered from KC’s official residence. It is said that DSP KC had been demanding hefty amount from the traders from his middleman, GC. GC has also been arrested along with DSP KC. 

KC was also accused of involving in collecting money from call centers, crusher operators, gamblers and other illegalness.
