Kathmandu, Nepal, November 30, 2021: Tiger census is going to be conducted in Nepal from coming December 5, 2021. The Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DoNPWC) is going to launch the census from the Chitwan National Park (CNP). The CNP has planned that the census would be completed by mid-January, 2022.

It is said that census of the tiger will  be conducted in Chitwan, Bardiya, Parsa, Shuklaphanta and Banke National Parks and adjoining forests. These parks are considered as major habitats of the tiger. As tiger used to be visible in winter than during other seasons, this season is considered to conduct census.

According to CNP Chief Conservation Officer, Hari Bhadra Acharya, the parks will be divided into three complexes as Chitwan and Parsa (first complex), Banke and Bardiya (second complex) and Shuklaphanta and nearby Laljhandai area as (third complex).
 
In the previous census conducted in 2018, the population of adult tigers was reported as 235. It is believed that the tiger population would have increased now.
