Kathmandu, Nepal, February 18, 2020: Former Deputy Speaker Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe, who is also the lawmaker of the ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP), has been appointed as the Minister for Law and Justice.

Tumbahangphe had stepped down from the post of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) On January 20, just a day after the ruling head NCP decided to field lawmaker Agni Prasad Sapkota as the speaker of the HoR.

Though Tungbahangphe was initially reluctant to step down from the post, she was promised for the ministerial post. She had submitted her resignation to the Parliament Secretariat to pave way for electing the new speaker once Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had promised her for appointing as minister.
