Kathmandu, Nepal, April 23, 2020: Major two Madhes based poltical parties in Nepal- Samajwadi Party and Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) have announced their merger for a new political party named as ‘Janata Samajbadi Party’ on Wednesday midnight.
The meeting of both the parties finalized the unification deal and signed in the unification document to pave the way to register the new party at the Election Commission on Thursday.
Party’s senior leader Mahantha Thakur, Rajendra Mahato, Mahendra Raya Yadav and Saratsingh Bhandari on behalf of the RJPN while Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Upendra Yadav, Ashok Rai and Rajendra Shrestha on behalf of the Samajbadi Party signed in the document amid a function on Wednesday midnight.
The deal to merge the two parties is termed as ‘a counter attack against of the government’s poly’ to split the party. As President Bidya Devi Bhandari issued an ordinance paving way split parties through a easy process, at the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, the Madhes based parties had felt dangerous to save their parties from the possible split.
As per the new deal, the new party will use the flag of Samajbadi Party while election symbol will be used of the RJPN.
