Kathmandu, Nepal, April 13, 2020: The number of people infected from the deadly corona virus (COVID-19) has jumped to 14 in Nepal with the two more confirmed cases found on Monday in Rautahat and Kailali district. Nepal has currently 13 active cases of virus while one case of recovery.
The ministry of health and population has revealed during a regular press meet that a 65-year-old woman from Kailali district and 19-year-old male from Rautahat district tested positive for the COVID-19.
As throat swab tests conducted at the National Public Health Laboratory confirmed positive for the COVID-19, the infected duo have been kept in quarantine in respective districts, Bikash Devkota, spokesperson of the ministry said at the press conference.
The woman from Kaliali is believed to have infected at Birgung as she used to run a tea-shop in Birgunj along the Nepal-India border before she returned to home district, Kailali.
She was kept in a quarantine set up at Lamki Multiple Campus in Lamkichuha municipality-1 of Kailali for the past 14 days once she returned to her home. Earlier, she was tested negative on Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT).
Likewise, the young man male from Rautahat district was kept in quarantine after he got infected from the virus.
