Washington, USA:: The America Nepal Helping Society (ANHS), a Nepali community organization based in Virginia, has provided $92,964 to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for people affected by the floods and landslides in the Rasuwa–Bhotekoshi area.
Representatives of ANHS handed over the cheque to Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal during a meeting at the Consulate General of Nepal in New York.
Khanal was in New York to attend high-level meetings and other programs held as part of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
ANHS representatives said the money was raised through a fundraising campaign among Nepalis and other supporters in the United States. The funds are intended to support people affected by the disaster and assist with rehabilitation work.
The floods and landslides in the Bhotekoshi area caused damage to homes and infrastructure and disrupted normal life in affected communities. Relief efforts have been focused on providing immediate assistance, while rehabilitation and reconstruction remain longer-term needs.
The Nepal government and various organizations have been involved in relief and recovery efforts in the affected areas. Nepali communities abroad have also raised funds and provided assistance following the disaster.
ANHS thanked the donors, volunteers, officials and others who contributed to its fundraising campaign.
The organization said the $92,964 contribution was handed over to the Nepal government for use in relief and rehabilitation efforts for the affected communities.
