Kathmandu, Nepal, March 16, 2020: Following the spreading fear of coronavirus (COVID-19), the United States (US) embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal has announced to cancel its routine Diversity Visa and non-immigrant visa appointments.

According a statement issued by the US embassy in Kathmandu, the decision would come into effective from Tuesday. ‘We will resume as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time, the embassy has stated in the notice. 

‘The MRV fee is valid and may be used for a visa application in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment,’ reads the statement.

The US embassy in Kathmandu has made the decision following the US government’s decision to restrict travel from Europe as part of its precautionary measure to control the spreading fear of COVID-19.
