SINDHULI, NEPAL: vehicular movement in BP Highway has remained standstill since last night as the road section along the Shitalpati section in Sindhuli district has caved in and fallen into the Sunkoshi River.
According to the reports, about hundred meter strip of the road is caved in at Benighat Kholete area of Shitalpati – 9 at 11 pm last night.
As the road section is so narrow, hundreds of vehicles heading towards the capital city and those heading out towards the eastern districts have been stranded. It is said that even a single motorcycle is also not passing from the road.
Though the reason behind the collapse of the road is not established yet, it is used to blame that weak foundation of the road, cracks and fissures developed during the massive earthquake would be a cause behind the collapse.
