Kathmandu, Nepal, November 11, 2022: Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of Canada to Nepal Amanda Strohan has said that vibrant and unbiased media is an absolute condition for healthy democracy and free elections.
Addressing a mentorship program on Wednesday Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of Canada to Nepal, Strohan said so underlining the role of media in the democratic system.
The mentorship program was organized for journalists from all seven provinces. A total of 14 journalists including nine women journalists representing various forms of media were selected for the mentorship program.
The program was organized by Media Action Nepal with support from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) as part of an initiative to promote fair media coverage of elections.
During the function, Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of Canada to Nepal, Strohan expressed happiness to partner with Media Action Nepal to strengthen professional capacity of journalists through a sensitization workshop, mentoring and fellowships.
Global expert on media and election campaigns, Dr. Turdubaeva Elira, Media Action Nepal Chairperson Laxman Datt Pant, Vice Chair of Media Action Nepal Priyanka Jha and others also shared their views during the program.
