Guwahati, July 3 : Following torrential rains in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, water level of the Brahmaputra river has gradually increased in many places of the state.
Alone in Guwahati, water level of the Brahmaputra river has increased 36 cm in last 72 hours.
According to the Central Water Commission (CWC), water level of the Brahmaputra river has increased 1 cm per hour.
The India Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted heavy rain at isolated places over parts of Assam, Meghalaya and some other parts of the country during next 24 hours.
CWC employee Sadiqul Hoque based in Guwahati said that, water level of the Brahmaputra river rose 36 cm alone at DC Court in Guwahati in past 72 hours and water level increased 1 cm per hour.
Besides Brahmaputra river, water levels of its tributaries have also increased in several places in the state.
Meanwhile, flood situation in Assam has gradually improved, but current wave flood continued in five districts of the state affecting thousands of people and claimed 32 lives so far.
