Kathmandu, Nepal, September 24, 2019: World Federation Of Trade Unions (WFTU) Asia Pacific Conference has kicked off in Kathmandu with prime slogan of ‘Ensure basic needs of working class and social security, generate more investment on productive and employment sector’.
In the conference 12 countries, 25 National Trade Unions, 49 International delegates and 8 Trade Union Confederation participated with their 160 delegates.
In the inaugural session of the conference was Chaired by Premal Kumar Khanal, Presidential council member of WFTU and coordinator of WFTU CC Nepal, Minister for Labor, employment and social security Gokarna Bista gave is statement focusing in the sector of investment in productive and employment sector. He also said that every workers should be facilitated by minimum labor standard wages and social security.
H Manadevan, Deputy General Secretary of WFTU and in charge of Asia Pacific region also delivered his important speech. He said that WFTU has been always fighting against the exploitation of labor. He added that FWTU is heading forward for the fulfillment of basic needs i: e, food, housing, education, medicine, fresh drinking water including employment and social security.
Swadesh Dev Roye, deputy General Secretary of Finance Control Committee of WFTU, Com. C. H Venkatachalam, Chairman of Finance Control Committee of WFTU and Mr. Richard Howard, Country Director of ILO office for Nepal also delivered their worthy speech for the successful completion of the ongoing Asia Pacific Conference of WFTU.
The announcer of the inauguration ceremony for this conference was Com. Mohan Man Swar, member of financial control committee of WFTU and sub coordinator of WFTU Nepal.
The further sessions are going to be continued and the conference will be concluded by the Kathmandu declaration on 25th of Sep 2019.
