KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has remarked that white paper about the nation’s economy issued by the government recently is ‘fabricated’ and ‘misleading’.


Inaugurating the sixth National General Convention of Nepal Sarbajanik Sewa Karmachari Sangh here today, the erstwhile Prime Minister refuted the NC role, as reported in the white paper, in bringing the nation’s economy to the current situation.

“It lacks credibility,” NC Chair Deuba said.

“The governments formed after the 2006 people’s movement in the country were mostly headed by leftists,” he said, adding that the leftist governments in the past had roles in pushing nation’s economy towards deterioration.

“The CPN (UML) and the CPN (Maoist Center) achieved better results in the recent elections as they had an electoral alliance,” said the president of the main opposition party.

Also speaking on the occasion, party central member Dr Shekhar Koirala blamed party leadership’s failure in making people aware of NC’s contribution to development endeavors in the country behind the ‘unexpected’ results party achieved in the recent three-tier elections. He stressed the need for working though a new way to regain party’s image.RSS
