Kathmandu, Nepal, August 9, 2022: A golf tournament, which is called as ‘Top of the World Golf Classic,’ is going to be held at the highest altitude in Lo Manthang of Mustang district of Nepal on coming August 27, 2022.

The local Lomanthang Youth Club (LYC) is going to organize the golf tournament for the first time under technical support of Nepal Golf Association (NGA) and Nepal Professional Golfers’ Association (NPGA).

The organizer has a belief that the golf tournament would set world’s highest altitude golf course records.  ‘Since the Yak Golf Course located at 13,025 feet above sea level in Sikkim, India, currently holds the record of highest altitude golf course, why the course could not set the record as the Mustang Golf Course is located at 15,239.5 feet above sea level,’ Deepak Acharya, general secretary of NPGA said.

During a press conference it was stated that the course currently has nine holes but could be expanded to 18 holes in the future. It is said that about Rs 1million has already spent from Parliament Development Fund in cooperation with Lomanthang Rural Municipality for the construction of the course.

It is said that 28 golfers including four female players have already confirmed their participation. The tournament will honor the winner, runner up, women’s winner, best group, closest to the pin, longest drive and most birdies.
