Kathmandu, Nepal: Min Bahadur Sherchan, who was once the oldest climber to scale Mount Everest, is planning to climb the tallest peak of the world next month with the attempt to regain the title at age of 85.

Sherchan had first scaled Everest in May 2008 when he was 76 making the history of scaling the Mount Everest in the oldest age. But his record was broken after five years by  80-year-old Japanese climber Yuichiro Miura in 2013.

When his record was broken, then Sherchan attempted to climb Everest at the same year in 2013. But his plan was cut short due to financial problems.

Similarly, his next attempt in 2015 was also canceled due to an avalanche triggered by devastating Gorkha earthquake that had swept the base camp killing 19 people just a day before he had reached the site to scale the Mount Everest.

I have not canceled my plan to scale the Mount Everest but waiting favorable weather on the summit, which would likely the next month, Sherchan, the grandfather of 17 and great-grandfather of six said.

I am going to scale the Maount Everest again just not to break the history but inspire for humankind particularly to boost for the elderly people and for the encouragement for youths, he said.
