Kathmandu, Nepal, August 29, 2020: Nepal’s coronavirus (COVID-19) infection tally reached to 37,340 after 884 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours. 

Among the newly identified cases, 186 have been reported from Kathmandu Valley alone, the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) said amid a regular press briefing on Saturday.  

According to Jageshowr, Gautam, spokesperson for the MoHP, of the newly infected persons 242 are females while 652 are males.

 The new infection cases were confirmed after testing of 10,171 specimens through PCR method in the last 24 hours, Gautam said during the regular virtual press briefing adding that a total of 661,623 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Similarly, 313 patients, who were infected earlier with the coronavirus, have returned home after recoveries. With the new addition, a total number of people recovered from the coronavirus reached to 20,555.

As of Sunday, there are 16,578 active cases in the country while 8,035 people are under quarantine, spokesperson Gautam said.

Likewise, death toll due to the infection of coronavirus reached to 195 after twelve more Covid-19 fatalities died in the past 24 hours.
