Nepalgunj, Nepal: At least three people were killed and seven others seriously injured after a passenger jeep veered off the road in the Bajhang district on Saturday afternoon.

According to media reports, the ill-fated jeep (registration number Su Pa Pra 01-001 Cha 2644) was traveling from Kadachaur in Kedarsyu Rural Municipality-7 to Chuhawan in Durgathali Rural Municipality when it met with the accident at around 4 p.m.

Although the exact cause of the fatal accident has yet to be determined, bad weather—particularly torrential rainfall—is believed to have triggered the crash. Rescue efforts were severely hampered by the adverse weather conditions. While a Nepal Army helicopter was dispatched to airlift the injured, it was unable to land at the crash site and was forced to return to Chainpur, according to the Sudurpashchim Province Police Office.

However, the Bajhang District Administration Office stated that local authorities, alongside security personnel and volunteers, have continued rescue operations on the ground.

A total of 15 people, including the driver, were reportedly traveling in the vehicle. Among the survivors, three are reported to be in critical condition.
