Kathmandu, Nepal, November 8, 2021: The bodies of three missing French nationals, who were buried under snow on the slope of a mountain in the Everest region, have been recovered by a high-altitude search and rescue team.

Though the search team had located the bodies on Sunday, these were retrieved on Monday and airlifted to Kathmandu for postmortem. It is said that the dead bodies will be handed over to the family members of the deceased persons after completion of the postmortem.

According to Ang Norbu Sherpa, head of the search and rescue team mobilized by the Nepal National Mountain Guides Association, all three bodies were found near the slope of the north face of the Mingmo Eiger, to Lukla.

The French climbers identified as Thomas Arfi, Gabriel Miloche and Louis Pachoud had reported missing on October 31 after they hit by an avalanche. Though eight persons had got permission to climb the mountain, they were divided into two groups to tackle the summits.

The group was attempting to scale Mingbo Eiger, a 6,000-metre (19,700-feet) peak near Mount Everest. It is said that they were last heard from via satellite phone from their camp on 26 October.
