Kathmandu, Nepal: Challenging to the impeachment motion registered in the parliament by the lawmakers of ruling Nepali Congress and CPN Maoist Centre against the Chief Justice Sushila Karki a writ has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday.
Advocate Sunil Ranjan Singh filed a writ petition at the SC claiming that the motion has breached the Articles 16.1, 177.1, 101.2, 101.6, 105, 126.1, 126.2, and 128.4 of Nepal’s Constitution.
In the writ he has also alleged that the impeachment motion was brought to influence the judiciary and with an intent to build a guided judiciary.
Dubbing the allegations against the Chief Justice hypothetical and intended to assassinate the Chief Justice’s character, the petitioner has claimed in the writ. As the impeachment motion was a matter of public interest, there was no other way to challenge the move, Advocate Singh has mentioned in the writ.
