Kathmandu, Nepal, December 31, 2020: Chief Minister of Province 1, Sher Dhan Rai has on Thursday suspended 15 provincial assembly members belonging to the Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) for the next three months rightly after he was expelled from the post of parliamentary party leader of Province 1.
As the Dahal-Nepal faction of the NCP picked Bhim Acharya as the next parliamentary party leader of Province 1, Rai suspended 15 provincial assembly members belonging to the Dahal-Nepal faction in a tit-for-tat mode.
As the Dahal-Nepal faction holds a majority in the NCP's parliamentary party of Province 1, Rai would be replaced by Acharya. However, the decision to expel from the member of the parliament would complicate the process to change the government.
