Kathmandu, Nepal: Notwithstanding the widespread wrath and criticism including the hunger strike of the senior orthopedic Dr. Govinda KC, the controversial Medical Education Ordinance Replacement Bill is being tabled at the Parliament today.

Following the endorsement from the cabinet, the government had registered the Medical Education Ordinance Replacement Bill at the Parliament Secretariat on Friday. 

As the replacement bill has altered major provisions of the ordinance so as to allow establishment of new medical colleges even in Kathmandu Valley going against the government’s earlier commitment and the demand of the fasting Dr. KC, it is flanked from the different sectors. 

Protesting the government decision to register the controversial Medical Education Ordinance Replacement Bill, Dr. KC has already started his hunger strike in Jumla. 

Dr KC had reached at Jumla to stage a hunger strike at the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences. But he was arrested by the police on Saturday rightly after he began his hunger strike. Though he was release by the police, he has continued his hunger strike in Jumla vowing that he would continue the strike until and unless the government withdraws the controversial bill.
