Kathmandu, Nepal, August 16, 2020: Nepal’s coronavirus (COVID-19) infection tally has reached to 26,660 after 641 new cases reported in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), among the newly identified cases, 172 were from Kathmandu alone. This figure indicates that the coronavirus infections have widely spread in Kathmandu valley.   

641 new cases of coronavirus detected in the past 24 hours while conducting 12,247 PCR tests at various labs across the country in the past 24 hours, Dr. Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the MoHP said during the regular press conference on Sunday. 

According to him, 134 COVID-19 patients have been discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours. With the additions, total recovery tally stands at 17, 335.

Likewise, death toll due to the infection of COVID-19 reached to 104 after two additional death cases reported in the past 24 hours.
