Kathmandu, Nepal, January 3, 2023: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has divided over the issue of joining in the incumbent CPN Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal led government.
As the party witnessed vertical division over the issue of joining in the government, a politburo meeting of the party held on Monday decided to extend support to the Dahal led government only after analyzing the government's policies and program.
As almost all the politburo members and most of the House of Representatives (HoR) members of the party have stand in favor of joining in the government, party leadership, particularly the chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, has felt pressure to take the decision.
The party's politburo meeting will continue on Tuesday as well with the aim to make univocal decision regarding participation in the government.
The CPN United Socialist has won 10 seats in the 275-member HoR under first-past-the-post (fptp) category. It is said that almost all the elected members except chairman Nepal are in favor of joining in the government.
Party chairman Nepal is miffed at CPN Maoist Center Chairman Dahal for joining hands with the CPN UML to form a new government by breaking the previous alliance with the Nepali Congress sans any consultation.
