Kathmandu, Nepal, January 3, 2023: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has consulted with the office bearers of the Election Commission (EC) for holding elections to the posts of president, vice president and the vacant positions of the National Assembly (NA) members of the federal parliament.
As the EC has recommended to the government to fix February 8 as the date for holding the elections, Prime Minister Dahal also gave consent to the EC to start the necessary process for the elections.
The EC can start the necessary process for the elections and I will also hold discussions among the political parties regarding the issue, Prime Minister Dahal said in the consultation meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers on Monday.
Prime Minister also thanked the EC for successfully holding the elections of local bodies, members of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the provincial assemblies.
In the meeting, deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane and Government Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi were also present.
