Kathmandu, Nepal, August 17, 2021: The hunger strike of ex-Gurkha Armies, who have been staging a relay hunger strike in front of the office of the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in London demanding equal pension pay, has become a matter of concerns in Nepal.

The government has urged the former Gurkha veterans to end the hunger strike to help to resolve the issues through negotiations. A cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to urge to end the hunger strike.

As the government has already initiated diplomatic talks with the British government to address their demands, it would better to end the hunger strike, the government has stated.

Likewise, the lawmakers from the main opposition party have also drawn the attention of the government and concerned stake holders to help address demands put forth by the agitating former Gurkha veterans.

The Gurkha veterans, who have been launching fast-into-death strike at Number 10 Downing Street in London, have been staging hunger strike stating that their ongoing fast-into-death strike would not be ended unless the British government addresses their demands.
