Kathmandu, Nepal, March 8, 2022: Five members of a family were found dead in their house in Konjyosom Rural Municipality-4, Nallu of Lalitpur district on Monday morning.

The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Kainli Syangtan, her 33 years old Daughter-in-law Sushma, her 9 years old grandson Ashish, 7 years old granddaughter Asma and two day old grandson.

It is said that four persons were found dead at home while the infant died during the course of treatment at Patan Hospital. Kainli Syangtan’s 23-year-old son is the only survivor of the incident. He is currently undergoing treatment at Patan Hospital.

A preliminary observation has suggested that asphyxiation would be the cause of death. As the family had burnt charcoal inside the house with the motive to warm the baby, carbon monoxide poisoning would have led to the death, police have said.
